I struggled to find the appropriate words expressing my adoration for this totally vintage and perfectly pretty wedding in the California woods. Channeling their eclectic style and that of their closest friends, this bride and groom asked guests to don their best vintage outfit-and this crew dressed to impress! Kitschy details and homemade elements (like the bride’s gorgeous felted flower bouquet!) brought everything together and Sonya Yruel Photography was there to capture it all. There are so many more steal-worthy ideas in the full gallery!
From Sonya Yruel Photography… Alex and Nichole hosted an intimate group of artistic friends and family that gathered to help create the beauty and fun of the wedding! Alex and Nichole felt that their guests were more than just guests, they were active collaborators in making the wedding come together. All guests encouraged to wear their best vintage attire! Making their wedding an “Indian Summer” destination wedding in October, Alex and Nichole included lots of fun activities and planned events for the weekend at Leonard Lake, such as a BBQ the night before the wedding, movie night under the stars, day-after brunch, canoeing, croquet, bocce ball, etc…
From the bride… Inspiration came from all of our amazing friends and their style. We wanted to blend everyone’s style into our planning. Since almost all of the invitees were our closest friends, we took them into account and sent out the invitations with these words, “We are marrying the styles of the ’20s, the flowers of the ’60s, the funk of the ’70s, and the radness of the ’80s.” Each guest came in their best vintage outfit, which made for unbelievable photos and added so much to the design of the wedding.
Standing in the middle of an enchanted Redwood grove in California, lit with colorful vintage oil lamps, and draped lace table clothes made the altar one of a kind. Felted flowers for a bouquet, wild flower arrangements and delicious pizza and farro salads served with great cocktails under the stars. Everything was DIY projects: from the wild flower arrangements and vintage plates brought by guests, to the embroidered napkins cut up from vintage western shirts.
