The wedding of Nath and Nikki Croft was held overlooking beautiful Pittwater in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The venue was Avalon Sailing Club, a small, community-based yacht club that the bride’s family has been members of for nearly 30 years. They were married at 3:30 p.m. on the enormous deck of the clubhouse looking out over the harbour. The bride arrived by her father’s antique Halvorson boat, which is named “Trina.” A colorful bridal party of six bridesmaids and six groomsmen, plus the groom, were waiting on the deck with the guests. The ceremony was simple, relaxed and heartfelt with much laughter and hardly any tears! The whole event was guided by the couple’s personality and their love of the simple Australian lifestyle. The ceremony was decorated with bunches of eucalyptus leave and blossoms along the wharf railings, native floral arrangements, picnic-style blankets and cushions and a simple marquee hung with handmade bunting. Guests celebrated the event with colorful paper “YAY” flags designed and made by the bride.
Nikki (the bride) runs a creative arts/homeware business called “My Handmade Heart,” and she was determined to use her skills to make the event as personal as possible. Nikki designed everything, from the invitations, RSVPs, programs and stationery (including hand-painted canvas signage and printed paper bunting signs) to the decorative elements of handmade quilts, crocheted blankets and Australian tea towel cushions. Glass jars were covered with vintage Australian fruit labels and used to display simple bunches of native florals, and strings of handmade paper garlands were stung in the entrance to create a curtain of fluttering paper. Flowers were sourced from the Sydney Flower Market and put together by friends and family members, with the mother of the bride creating some beautiful feature arrangements, as well all of the bridesmaids' bouquets and groomsmen’s boutonniere. The bride's bouquet was put together by the bride herself, using a mix of the native flowers being carried by the bridesmaids.
Guests dined on a fresh and simple buffet-style dinner by Nourish Catering. Nourish provided beautiful fresh local produce with an Australian feel. The “cake” was 4 tiers of different cheeses from Fourth Village Providores and was gobbled up by all our guests immediately! The photographer for the day was Sophie Daley of My Lens of Love, who captured every memory and created a collection of photographs that ranged from incredible artworks to special captured moments! Sophie went above and beyond and provided excellent service that is second to none! The celebrant was James Wallace, and he created a relaxed and fun ceremony. He included a number of personal touches and designed the perfect ceremony around the bride and groom's personalities and personal stories. After a full three days of cleaning and setting up the venue from scratch with family and friends, the actual day was managed by Renee Woodward of Event Angels. She coordinated the day so that it ran smoothly and helped set up last-minute style elements such as the ceremony and outdoor elements.
