San Luis Obispo Wedding by Mirelle Carmichael Photography

For a romantic at heart (which is 99.9% of the SMP camp), reveling in a pink and lace infused garden wedding is the best way to spend the afternoon. Hands down. And Mirelle Carmichael + Cheryl Tivar of Mirelle Carmichael Photography have sent a wedding our way that allows us to do just that. With a venue like See Canyon Fruit Ranch, which is wildly gorgeous on its own, all filled to the brim with lush greenery and gorgeous little conversation spots and the addition of peach hued blooms by Jenny McNiece Flowers. It’s a sure fire way to get your garden inspiration on and you can see it all right here.

From Mirelle Carmichael PhotographyCrystal and Cory were married at the gorgeous See Canyon Fruit Ranch, marking the Ranch’s first wedding of 2012. The minute I arrived, I fell in love with all of the little details that Crystal put together to create her wedding look. She played off a palette of blush pinks, white and creams and mixed in a variety of lace and burlap elements. It was really enjoyable photographing all the elements that were centered around both the bride and groom’s personalities. From her craftiness and love of all things pretty to his love of music — it was all there! Jenny McNiece Flowers did an amazing job adding touches of whimsy to the venue. The very large wooden ceremonial arch at the ranch was fully decorated with flowers from top to bottom! It made a beautiful focal point for the wedding. Cocktail hour treats were served on top of wine barrels, while tray-passed hors d’oeuvres from the Mama’s Meatballs Catering team greeted the wedding guests. Guests also enjoyed live music by one of San Luis Obispo’s most popular bands: Matt Cross & The One Night Band. As the sun started to set, Crystal changed out of her wedding gown and into a beautiful ivory slip that was once part of her mother’s wedding dress (it was handmade by her grandmother) and topped it with a stunning DIY fabric floral belt!

From the Bride… For my wedding, I was inspired by all things burlap and lace! I realized after looking at my first wedding magazine and google searches that I had a love for rustic and vintage things. It was all over from there! Whenever I found anything burlap and lace on my daily searches of wedding blogs, it didn’t matter what it was, I was going to incorporate it into our big day somehow.  I tend to be a perfectionist, and this happened to be the perfect theme to not drive me crazy and stress me out, as nothing is perfect — there are no straight lines, and fraying burlap is amazing! Most things burlap and lace that I was attracted to were handmade. I typically lose patience quickly with crafts, so I was very tempted to just buy decorations. However, I wasn’t having much luck with finding things things that I could envision on my wedding day, so I went out and bought some burlap, lace, and satin, found a few tutorials for fabric flowers and gave it a shot. After about the second one, I realized I could do this and how fun would it be to have the flowers all over randomly incorporated in the decorations! From there came the burlap utensil holders, with the C&C tags, wood wire, and blush ribbon. To incorporate my husband’s passion and love for music (it was his day too!), I found scrapbook paper that looked like vintage sheet music and added it to some of the burlap flowers I made, added a guitar stamp on the candy bags, cocktail napkins and modge podged the scrapbook paper on wooden guitars from Michaels for the back of our chairs. Believe it or not, during this process I gained patience and released stress! I found there is not one wedding that is exactly alike. You may love the theme that someone else created, think that it’s exactly what you want and be inspired by it, but there will always be a difference … and that is you.
