We met Kelly and Mike on a frigid and snowy December day in Wilton, Connecticut. While we discussed their fall nuptials on a farm, it became clear to us that such a beautiful couple would inspire one of the most beautiful weddings we’d put together yet. Kelly, originally from North Carolina, and Mike, a Connecticut native, wanted to incorporate vintage touches throughout their rustic wedding. We used things such as an old door as a seating board and chalkboards and old weathered wood planks as signage. Our favorites were the “Mr.” and “Mrs.” signs we hung on their chairs at the reception. The cocktail hour featured a bar built from hay bales and a saxophonist and pianist surrounded by lighting that had been strung along shepherds’ hooks. Signature cocktails – one to represent each of the newlyweds – were accented with pink and white striped straws. Mason jars wrapped with twine served as vessels for seasonal flowers that incorporated shades of fall and elements such as pinecones. Small birch rounds were used throughout the wedding as serving platters and in centerpieces with table numbers on them. Guests were transported back in time as they wrote their words of wisdom on an old typewriter. The most personal touch was the hundreds of childhood photos of the bride and groom strung along the outer perimeter of the tent. Kelly’s gorgeous vintage fur wrap that she donned for the evening reception set the stage for a perfectly romantic night cuddled up by the bonfire with her new hubby, while kids utilized the s’mores station to create some delectable homemade bites. From spiced nuts served in cones, mini lamb burgers, a full three-course meal, bacon lollipops, and a buffet of pies for dessert, the food was exquisite and expertly arranged by Tim Labant, chef and owner of The Schoolhouse at Cannondale restaurant. All in all, we’d say that this wedding was beyond successful, and we hope to do more like it in the future!
