From the Bride... We had a destination wedding in the Caribbean, which I think is completely different from planning a local wedding. Basically, it is a logistical nightmare. As a result, I knew from the start that some things would fall through the cracks, so I wanted to make sure I focused on what I thought were the most important parts of the wedding: make sure all of my closest family and friends had plane tickets and rooms, planning some events outside of the wedding for everybody who made the journey, and getting the right local people on board to help put everything together. The wedding reception was held on the beach of the Royal Palm Resort & Beach Club in St. Maarten. I've always wanted a sunset beach wedding, and my husband's family has been going to St. Maarten for years, so it was an easy decision.
My favorite moment was definitely dancing with all my closest family and friends in the rain as it started pouring towards the end of the reception. It was like something straight out of a movie. To other brides: try to keep everything in perspective. There will definitely be a lot of stress, but don't let it swallow you up. Your wedding will be the quickest six hours of your life. And make sure you have an amazing photographer to capture it all because you will not remember much of it!
