Backyard wedding-loving SMPers (that just might be all of us) this pretty little fête is going to send your soul into a tizzy of excitement. Because it is just everything a backyard party should be – and so much more. It’s twinkling lights, casual elegance and ruffly cakes all captured like only Mustard Seed Photography can – and it’s all waiting for you right here.
From Mustard Seed Photography… We recently traveled to New Braunfels to photograph this lovely, nature-themed backyard wedding, and we knew from the moment we arrived that we were in love! Not only are the bride and groom super-sweet, but they are also super-creative and put together the best soirée for their guests to enjoy. :)
From the Bride… I absolutely love old vintage knick knacks — bottles, cameras, mason jars, tea cups, books, plates, vases, milk glass, etc. I also adore birds of any kind and color. I knew I didn’t want the traditional symmetrical centerpieces/decor that you typically see on wedding tables, so gathering things that I love and using them seemed like a nice idea. My mother and I started going to the flea market every weekend! We would haggle with vendors for hours attempting to get everything we needed and not spend a fortune. The main items we used for filler were vintage bottles, milk glass, mason jars and books. We would also buy “centerpiece” items such as vintage cameras, bird cages and even an old microscope. It took us about seven trips to the flea market and a full day of running around town to thrift stores to gather all the beautiful pieces we needed.
The day of the wedding, we filled the bottles and vases with candles, ranunculus, craspedia and assorted wildflowers. They looked like something from Alice in Wonderland’s tea party/magical vintage garden, which I couldn’t have been happier with. I had so much fun with my mother all those weekends we hung out, looking for decor — I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
