Backyard Cleveland Wedding by Shi Shi Events

This wedding is all about the style. The gorgeous bib necklace, the show stopping Amsale gown, a cake inspired by that very gown by Wendy Kromer Confections, the breathtaking florals by HeatherLily Inc. – it all comes together thanks to the talented hands of Shi Shi Events, and we couldn’t be more thrilled they sent it our way. It’s all sitting pretty in the full gallery so be sure to stop on by for your daily dose of style!

From Shi Shi EventsThandi and Adam were married at Adam’s family home on June 25, 2011.  Because Thandi works as an executive at Tory Burch, it was of the utmost importance that the wedding reflected her sense of style perfectly. Thandi wanted a wedding that was modern and elegant without being fussy. Part of how we achieved that aesthetic was through mixing very glamorous gold-rimmed glass tabletop pieces and stately china with burlap linens and exposed wood tabletops. We used a vibrant pink flower mix to cap off the tables — it was truly stunning! The wedding ceremony was held outdoors on the family’s terrace under the most beautiful chuppah we’ve ever seen, and guests were seated in bamboo chairs. A steel band played as guests arrived to the pool area for cocktail hour. Cocktails were held around the pool, the bar under the canopy of the pool house, and a lounge was created outside “the barn.” When cocktail hour was over, wedding guests typed notes to Thandi and Adam on a vintage typewriter and placed them in a vintage hatbox on their way to the dinner and dancing tent. The century tent’s center poles were adorned with branches and greens to mimic trees featuring hanging votives with two brass and crystal chandeliers hung between them. HeatherLily provided a custom bar and lounge area under the tent as well for guests to enjoy. The menu was also very important to Thandi and Adam and included items such as passed hors d’oeuvres of chorizo corn dogs, southern style crab cakes and a mini slider station. As an intermezzo, guests were delighted to receive sorbet served inside an orange — it was an absolutely lovely presentation! For the main course, guests enjoyed Marigold Catering’s signature short ribs or a chicken breast served with Ohio sweet corn polenta. The wedding cake was created by Wendy Kromer of Wendy Kromer Confections and was modeled after Thandi’s dress — it had just the slightest hint of blush pink in the handmade gum paste flower details. It was truly a magical evening.
