From Frost Photography From the minute I met Peter and Dee, I knew they had a vision for a wedding like no one had seen before. Not only would it have a super swanky, old New York vibe but it would have henna, Indian drummers and the best tikka masala the guests had ever had.

The bride and her girls got ready in the Millennium Hilton downtown with spectacular views of the in-progress Freedom Tower. For portraits, these two wanted to get a wide range of vibes in the city. We started with a tearful first look in Battery Park City for some nature photos and then moved to the meatpacking district in a 1939 Chrysler where, after more portraits, the bride and groom stopped into their favorite brunch restaurant (Pastis) for a quick mojito before the ceremony.

Peter and Dee had their ceremony in a community garden in the East Village lined with willow trees, after which guests were transported in school buses to the reception at the Landmark Loews theater right through the tunnel in New Jersey. This stylish couple really wanted their wedding to have a classic New York cinema vibe and with the black and white tuxes, the bridesmaids’ long navy dresses, the bride’s mile-long veil, the vintage car and the larger than life Landmark Loews movie theater, their vision was achieved and then some! Instead of a traditional escort card table, Peter and Dee had an actress in 1920’s garb handing cards out at the ticket booth. Later she was seen waltzing the premises with a concessions box of candy cigarettes for guests to enjoy. The spectacular theater lobby was covered in movie posters, featuring photos from Peter and Dee’s engagement session. The bride also had many nods to her Indian heritage, including an assortment of Indian dishes, an outfit change for her and Peter into traditional Indian garb and henna for her and all the bridesmaids. The guests loved every moment, and Indian or not, everyone was soon dancing to the Indian drums.
