We are a bit star struck today on SMP because right this minute celebrities are dancing on our screens. Gorgeous ones, and their wedding is beyond our vintage loving dreams. You may know Lee DeWyze as Americal Idol Winning Crooner Extraordinaire and his crazy gorgeous actress wife, Jonna Walsh. But, today we get to delve into the wedding behind those picture-perfect faces. And to say it’s beautiful is a complete understatement. It’s so, so much more. These two are head over heels for each other and it’s evident from first glance at Marianne Wilson’s images. And at second glance, and at third. It’s a wedding worthy of a standing ovation, and you can see it all right here.
From Marianne Wilson Photography… Lee and Jonna’s wedding was fantastic and could not have been further from the stereotypical 24-hour publicity-stunt wedding that so many people would probably expect from two people who are in the public eye. Rather than being a crazy-dramatic “Oh my gosh! Look at all of these people we convinced that it would be good for their careers to show up!” event, they chose to discretely and genuinely celebrate their love and commitment with a select few friends and family at Maravilla Gardens: a gorgeous and private venue in Camarillo, California. It was so refreshing to see so many genuine moments and so much of their personalities poured into their wedding. We felt like being at their wedding was an open door into their lives, and it was so beautiful to see what was behind that door.
It is no secret that Jonna is a fan of Disney. Lee and Jonna even got engaged at Disney World! When we saw the subtle winks and nods at Disney movies and themes throughout their wedding, it made us feel like we were a part of an indulgently personal inside joke that was a huge part of Lee and Jonna’s relationship. To see their love of Disney reflected in so many of the details of their day in such a personal, beautiful, classy, coherent and not “over-the-top” way was like being invited to play with the inner child of this couple! The table assignments being tied to keys and the table numbers being doorknobs (made by Jonna’s father!) were a subtle wink at Alice In Wonderland. In short, we loved it! They also collected the table assignment cards and keys with the guests’ notes on the back of the cards as a seamless way for guests to “leave your tips and advice for marriage.” Super efficient, adorable and it all “made sense” rather than just being a theme for the sake of being a theme. The centerpieces where the floral arrangements were just glass over just a couple of roses were a nod to Beauty and the Beast with a huge and almost subliminal romantic impact! Oh my goodness! Belle of the Ball Designs, you rocked it! We could go on for days about the details of this wedding fitting remarkably well with this adorable couple. Just take a look at the photos and you will understand.
