This Camarillo Ranch is the perfect example of just what I am talking about. It's DIY done oh so right - from the holy moly gorgeous flowers arranged by the Bride's sister to the sweet vintage decor and every detail in between, Figlewicz Photography + HBD Photography snapped up all the goodness so we could admire the DIY perfection in the full gallery!
From the Bride... Our wedding was a labor of love for David and me, with lots of help from our family and friends. We wanted it to be a very personal reflection of us with lots of color and unique, vintage and handmade touches. We had a large wedding in March (250+ guests), so it needed to be indoors in case of rain (even though it ended up being a beautiful day!). We didn’t want to have our reception in a hotel, so we were very excited when we found the Camarillo Ranch, which has a renovated barn for events. Our families and friends decorated the barn the day of the wedding with white lights, pennant flags, flowers, vintage vases and urns — it was amazing. It took my breath away to see everything that we had planned come together so perfectly. My mom and friends spent hours hand-sewing bright, colorful napkins, and my bridesmaids and I made the pennant flags with leftover fabric from the napkins. I scored most of the vintage decorations at thrift stores, garage sales and one amazing estate sale, and the mason jars were my great-grandma's and grandma's old canning jars. My sister is very creative, and she masterminded all of the flowers and bouquets at the wedding, with the help of many friends and family the morning of the wedding. The flowers were one of my favorite things!
We had a huge wedding party, and I wanted all the very different personalities of my bridesmaids to stand out, so I had them each pick out their own green dress and any accessories they wanted. I love how unique and beautiful each of them looked! I wore all vintage jewelry from my grandma and aunt, and my dress was a beautiful Reem Acra dress. For the garden ceremony, we had traditional vows, but we wrote each other a letter telling about our relationship, which the pastor read out loud during the ceremony. It was a great way to add a little more personality to the ceremony. We wanted things to be fun and casual, so after the ceremony while we were taking pictures, we had lawn games for people to play and appetizers. We had a casual dinner of BBQ steak and chicken from a great local caterer. Instead of a cake, we did root beer floats (a big hit!), and my mom’s friend made homemade decorated sugar cookies. Our favorite desserts! The barn was great for dancing the night away after our tasty meal. It was a beautiful day, and we are so grateful for all my friends and our family for making it so perfect!
