From the Bride… I had always dreamed of having my wedding on Skaneateles Lake, where I spent my summers growing up. Brian and I had met and made a life out in Colorado, but we both agreed we had to get married on Skaneateles Lake. The problem was there weren’t too many venues right on the lake. There was the country club, which wasn’t quite the feel we wanted for our wedding day. And fortunately, there was Lourdes Summer Camp, which was exactly what we wanted. There was a small rustic chapel, lots of cabins for guests to spend the night and a lots of beautiful views. It was perfect! We wanted to throw a fun summer party for our closest friends and family. We were worried about getting the venue for the summer since they had kids in camp until the middle of August and knew that it would be a popular location. But after some luck we were able to get the venue for four days and have the wedding on a Thursday evening. We invited our guests to come enjoy the property during the days leading up to the wedding. We had our rehearsal dinner under the pavilion and then had our wedding the next evening.
On the day of the wedding, we began our mornings with our closest friends. Brian and the guys got to enjoy the lake, and the girls and I had a little brunch while we got our hair and makeup done. The ceremony began in the late afternoon, and our guests were served our lemonade upon their arrival. We entered the rustic chapel under a simple arch that was made by my dad, and we walked down the aisle to our favorite songs. The ceremony was short and sweet. Brian and I were surprisingly greeted with a “just married” golf cart, which had been decorated by my uncle and cousin. We proceeded down to the tent nestled on the edge of the water and danced the night away under a perfect summer evening. We had a bonfire and s’mores to cap the night off, and my parents surprised us with fireworks to end our perfect day! It was such a special experience to be surrounded by all the people you love and don’t get to see all the time. And all the special details our families surprised us with made the day even more special!
