Rochester Wedding from Erich Camping + Stacy K Floral

Good floral design can stop me in my tracks. A pretty peony, a romantic garden rose, when pulled together in the most fabulous way, can fill your wedding with amazing smells and photographs pretty enough to hang on anyones wall. When Stacy K Floral teams up with Erich Camping, the images are so stunning, I’m dying to hang a few on MY wall. The gallery is one of the sweetest we’ve smelled in a while, so you WON’T want to miss it!

Alex and I met during our freshman year of college on a night-time stroll through the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. Alex appealed to my love of everything international by telling me about his Austrian upbringing and we started dating shortly afterward. Six years later, he proposed in the gardens of an Austrian castle near where he grew up.

I picked out my wedding colors almost immediately, coral and robin’s egg blue. However, it took me a while to find a style. One snowy day in New York City, I walked into a Pottery Barn and spotted a table full of apothecary jars, filled with robin’s eggs, mosses, and flowers. The woodsy feel meshed perfectly with the reception venue’s interior and I loved the idea of incorporating actual robins’ eggs into the decor. The robins’ egg theme carried through to the cupcakes which were decorated with eggs and nests, and our invitations, which featured blue love birds.

I am lucky to have a fashion designer as an uncle and he made my wedding dress, as well as my bridesmaids’. It felt so special to wear a beautiful creation designed by someone I love. Everything I wore on my wedding day was given to me by someone special to me from dress, to shoes, to jewelry. I even used my grandmother’s wedding dress as my bouquet wrap.

One of my most vivid memories from the wedding day is waking up to torrential rain. I was disappointed, but soon we turned it into an opportunity to take great photos with umbrellas. Later that day, the rain cleared and for the actual wedding we were graced with blue skies. It was the best of both worlds.

Alex and I took dance lessons for two months before our wedding to prepare for our first dance. We had the moves down, including a fabulous grand finale. When the time came, we were so nervous that we almost forgot the grand finale and the result was a totally botched version that our dance instructor would have scolded us for. But it didn’t matter- we had a great time.

Instead of a guest book, my mom created a wish tree. It was inspired by Yoko Ono’s Wish Tree at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. Each guest wrote down their wishes for the bride and groom on wishtags that they then hung on the tree. It was fun to see the tree “grow” with wishes as the night went on.

We ended the night with bowling! At midnight, the band announced that the party was over upstairs, but would continue in the bowling alley downstairs. We led the remaining guests to the alley and bowled the night away. We have great photos of us bowling in our wedding attire!
