In a word, this wedding is lovely. It couldn’t be more lovely if it tried actually. It makes me want to write a sweet little thank you note to the Bride for dreaming up such a day, and another note to AMBphoto for being there to capture all the prettiness. Because getting to share so much lovely with all of you is worthy of a few thank you notes. And have no fear, there is so much more in the full gallery of images!
From the Bride… Simon and I met seven years ago while travelling in Australia. I was looking for an independent adventure, and Simon was looking for a year-long experience with his friends, so the saying “love finds you when you least expect it” was certainly true in our case. I very quickly realized that Simon was the person that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. We could live in each other’s pockets through countless hostels or spend long periods apart when he was back in his home country of England and I was in Canada, and no matter what obstacles we faced, our love and respect for one another never wavered. Simon proposed on a bridge crossing the Thames on March 18, 2011. In my head it was the greatest and most loving moment of my life … but little did I know the best was yet to come. Simon and I moved back to Canada after spending five years together in jolly old England. As soon as our feet hit Canadian soil, we were whisked in a car to Mont Tremblant for my family’s annual summer holiday. My twin sister Jessica was very excited to show us our future wedding venue, and she nailed it — we fell in love instantly with the Quintessence Hotel and the lovely and quaint St. Bernard Chapel where we would say our I do’s. The venue was everything we dreamed of and more. As we had guests travelling from England and as far away as Australia, we wanted to ensure that we had at least a week together for families and friends to meet, mingle and celebrate and to Simon and me. Mont Tremblant was the perfect choice.
As we were getting married in May we chose a vintage spring theme, incorporating a lovely palette of pastel colors. We also wanted to ensure that Simon’s British background was represented but in subtle ways, thus we had the table numbers handmade by Candice Stanley who had excerpts of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet pressed to each woodblock. The groomsmen wore Union Jack cufflinks, Simon’s suit was from Ted Baker, and I ensured that my favorite Jo Malone candles were featured. As I am an avid online shopper, I used this to my advantage and sourced wedding décor from across Canada, the United States and England. As there would be lots of travel and coordinating involved, we knew we would need a great deal of help. I worked closely with Stacey Price from Marry Me Productions to help make our wedding dreams come true. I cannot say enough kind words to express how truly grateful I am to have had the chance to work with her and her team. I am also a huge lover of everything floral and knew that in terms of décor they would be my main feature. Erin Carmichael of Full Bloom Floral Design truly had me speechless with her inspiring talents. Matt Somers of It’s A Matter of Cake designed our wedding cake, and once again, we were left awe inspired of the four-tiered creation that matched the florals and vintage feel to a tee.
The day itself was picture perfect — we were blessed with wonderful weather. Anne-Marie Bouchard of AMBphoto captured our day beautifully, and although I have said it so many times throughout this journey, I absolutely adore Anne-Marie, a truly incredible talent but also a warm and kind person. The night was filled with fun, love and a heck of a lot of dancing thanks to Joel Lalonde who did an exceptional job of music selection for the entire day and had the dance floor filled until 2 a.m. He ensured that Simon’s favorite Brit songs were well represented, and no requests were left unheard. There are so many individuals to thank for our truly incredible day — all of our vendors were exceptional. A special thanks to our groomsmen, bridesmaids and our wonderful family and friends for being part of our most favorite day, and last but certainly not least, lots of love to my parents for helping Simon and me create the wedding day I have dreamed about since I was a little girl.
