NYC Wedding at Tribeca Rooftop by Entwined Studio

It doesn’t get more more modern chic or quintessential New York City than Tribeca Rooftop. Sprinkle some black and white details and a pinch of matching monochrome florals courtesy of Ariston Flowers on top, and you get this city slick  Entwined Studio wedding. Most people tell you your whole life that it’s what’s on the inside that counts, but the view from this penthouse is seriously the end all be all of NYC wedding venue views and This is a Love made sure we didn’t miss it (phew), and it’s all here in the full gallery!

From the Bride… Cory and I met nine years ago, right before our first day of classes freshman year at University of Massachusetts-Amherst.  We quickly discovered we grew up not too far from one another and became fast friends. It took about a year and a half for us to start to realize that our friendship was a bit more than that, and since the spring of 2004, we’ve been together. It was only fitting that during our first trip back to campus together as post-graduates, Cory surprised me and proposed. It was the sweetest, most sentimental way to really make our entire relationship come full circle.

We planned our wedding for a little over a year from the time we were engaged. We always knew we wanted a city wedding, so we immediately started looking at venues in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Long Island City. We must have seen 20 venues before we finally made the decision to book TriBeCa rooftop. We were both familiar with the venue because my brother got married there five years ago, but more than that, it really fulfilled Cory’s desire for a modern-looking space, and mine for something that was intrinsically “NYC” but could be made intimate instead not over the top. Since we really wanted the wedding to not only be in NYC, but also feel it, we decided to focus on classic black and white for our main colors. We really wanted the day to feel classic but chic, and I wanted to add my own flair to different elements so it felt personal and customized. We stuck with all-white flowers to help play up the classic theme, but then we had fun mixing up our arrangements for the tables. For the bouquets, I played up the black/white contrast as much as I could. My bouquet was assorted white flowers with several anemones placed throughout. The dark center of the anemones really popped in relation to everything else and drew in the black bridesmaids’ dresses and other black colors in all the photos which I really loved. My dress was definitely classic but modern. In order to have fun and play up the black/white, a friend of mine designed the jeweled crystal belt I wore, which she sewed onto sheer black tulle. I LOVE that belt. It was my favorite accessory and really changed the overall look of the dress. My veil was a bit funky and less traditional, which I also loved.

Aside from all the planning and design, the day itself went perfectly. It was amazing to see it all come together! And I loved the little things about our day that just made it so special and made it about us, such as how we wrote our own vows and shared them with each other during the ceremony; how in lieu of giving favors we donated to Bideawee, the animal shelter here in NYC where we adopted our dog; and how since I’m Israeli, we had an entire Israeli dance set, and the whole place was on the dance floor! There were so many little details that went into the day that now, reflecting back, I’m so happy we paid that close attention to the details (and the big things too) because it’s truly amazing to stand there and watch your vision come to life right in front of you. And to see it happen among your closest friends and family is even more special!
