I’m pretty sure that in the history of SMP we’ve never featured a wedding with quite so many steal-worthy details. We’re talking off the charts, hold the phone. slap-your-neighbor-they-are-so-good details. Okay, don’t slap your neighbor, that would be weird. But you get the drift. This wedding is the brain child of Beth Helmstetter and the girls at Holly Flora, two of our favorite designers on the planet, and is this crazy gorgeous boho meets classic meets total fabulous combination that has us wanting more and more and more. Which is a good thing because there are SO many more deets in the gallery thanks to the genius that is Steve Steinhardt.
From Beth Helmstetter Events… Bettina was a true Texas girl who had put down roots in Los Angeles a few years back, adding a strong Bohemian influence to her classic Southern style. The wedding took place at the gorgeous Gull’s Way Estate in Malibu, and was the perfect backdrop for Bettina’s 400 guests, who traveled from Texas and beyond to be there. Bettina looked soft and slightly boho in her gown by Temperley London, while her 24 bridesmaids donned nightgown style dresses in shades from blush to peach. The men remained classic in white dinner jackets. For the design of the day, we blended soft neutral tones with traditional moments like tulle, lace and silks and unexpected touches by incorporating animal prints, antlers and ghost chairs. Flowers were overgrown and wild and brought a sense of effortlessness to what would have been a traditional, Texas, black tie affair. The entire day was about balancing approachability with formality, and the juxtaposition of things like zebra rugs, chandeliers and feathers did just that.
After the oceanfront ceremony under a driftwood structure, guests were led to cocktail hour by an eight-piece gospel choir singing “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” where they enjoyed the bride’s favorite drink, classic Coca-Cola, cocktails and nibbles passed on silver trays while they watched the sunset. For dinner and dancing, the group had a feast of comfort foods such as macaroni-and-cheese and mashed potatoes before hitting the dance floor to a 14-piece band complete with a Neil Diamond cover singer. The night ended with the In-N-Out truck — a highlight for all of the Texans who only get the treat when heading out west.
