From Emma Sharkey Photography... Laura and Al really wanted their wedding day to be about them. There was no bridal party, only an incredibly close high school friend of Laura’s to help the couple prepare and dress for the day. The couple chose to meet each other prior to the ceremony and do all of their creative photography prior to their guests arriving at the winery. There is nothing quite as breathtaking as seeing a bride and groom lock eyes and embrace, knowing that it’s not on public display at the front of the aisle but in private. There just seems to be something so sacred about that moment, that piece of time, frozen just for them. Laura managed to put together an incredibly sophisticated wedding by researching and falling in love with online wedding blogs, SMP in particular. Laura was inspired to create green and white paper table runners, source handmade personalised wedding stationery from Stefanie Astronaut and even make her own photo booth props. The beautiful individualised touches that Laura incorporated into her wedding day were just gorgeous and I definitely think all of her online researching paid off!
The ceremony area was framed with wicker chairs for guests. The chairs were decorated with ivory pomanders suspended from the arm rests, and the aisle was framed with fresh ivory rose petals. The reception tables, positioned under suspended white rice paper lanterns from the ceiling, were decorated with vases of David Austin roses. Together with the table runners and menus, these elements provided hints of green and blue amidst the ivory and whites. The colour combination worked really well. A lounge area was created with brown chesterfield couches and was decorated with a storyline of images from the couple's past hanging above the brick fireplace. Old wine barrels topped with burning white candles and pots of greenery finished off the reception space and created depth and warmth. All of these little touches were simple but stylish and so very beautiful. Two little blue love birds sat atop the couple's ivory wedding cake and overlooked the reception area, while a photo booth area was created in the loft space and decorated with coloured bunting. The reception was warm and inviting and the perfect space for a fabulous affair.
