Colorado Foothills Wedding from IN Photography
Colorado, can we just say, you have been extra fabulous lately? Everything that has come across my desk from your beautiful, beautiful state has been extra special. A little rustic. A lotta beautiful. A gorgeous dress, a fabulous bouquet, a delish cake. We've always been big fans of the Rocky Mountain state, but thanks to weddings like this stunning soiree from IN Photography, we're quickly approaching number one fan status. And once they see this full image gallery, we're positive our LBBers are going to be begging to join the fan club too!
John and I met, of all places, at a Halloween party at a bar in downtown Nashville. I was dressed (tastefully) as Wonder Woman, while he looked smashing in a scrub top and bottom, posing as a physician. He was attending graduate school at the time, while I was working. Shortly thereafter, he brought me to his hometown of Denver. The day he proposed to me, I was instructed to dress nicely, as he was taking me to Kevin Taylor's downtown for a nice dinner. Once dinner ended, John told me there was a beautiful view of the mountains from the 8th floor of the hotel where the restaurant was located. Not being familiar with the Hotel Teatro, I followed along, and wound up in a gorgeous hotel room, with rose petals on the floor, and my boyfriend on one knee holding out a ring.
Finding a location for the wedding was tricky, and I was still new to the area. I had always imagined getting married outside, on a cool spring or summer evening. I fell in love with the Manor House, with its' beautiful location nestled at the foothills of the Rockies. We were married in the back yard of the house, with the spectacular view of downtown Denver behind us. John's stepfather, who had married his sister two years before, also served as our officiant at our non-religious ceremony. We wrote our own vows separately, but it was amazing how well they went together. We did incorporate the Jewish tradition of the breaking of the glass, as my parents had decided to do this at their wedding 37 years earlier.
I had not thought much about my colors for the wedding, but had always loved gray with pink. This quickly turned out to be our chosen colors when I found a pair of beautiful fuschia colored heels several months before I even started looking for my dress! Our floral design team at A Design Resource did an excellent job of coordinating these colors in our centerpieces and other decorative items. My bouquet was wrapped with lace used in my mother's wedding headpiece from several years earlier, and I carried a lace hankerchief that belonged to a great grandmother. We had the pleasure of working with Ann Marlin and her team at Cloud9, who did a beautiful job of coordinating everything and making the day all the more wonderful.
John and I had elected not to see one another prior to the ceremony, but I will never forget the look on his face when my father walked me down the aisle. He looked so handsome in his khaki colored suit and bright pink tie. My father walked with me to "The Flower's Duet", as sung by John's cousin and her friend, both opera singers.
Besides seeing John for the first time, my other favorite memory was my dance with my father. His song selection was a very touching surprise, as he picked "Edelweiss" from the Sound of Music, which is what he and my mother used to sing to me as they were tucking me in at night as a child. Some of my favorite photos of the night were of us dancing.
Another favorite photo is the more casual one of the wedding party standing outside. These are some of our best friends, several of whom came from very far away to attend this event. The whole weekend humbled me greatly as people came from far and wide to celebrate with us. All in all, the day was amazing, and I would do it again in a heartbeat!
