Backyard NSW Hinterland Wedding by Studio Impressions Photography

This gorgeous backyard wedding was a true labor of love and everyone pitched in to make this beautiful day a reality. From the Bride... Dave and I both agree the ceremony was one of our most favourite moments of the day. We got married in a beautiful old Catholic church on a hilltop of Coolangatta — the church Dave used to go to with his family when he was growing up. The church priest was unfortunately unavailable for the day of our wedding, but we were lucky enough that Father Pat, my family priest from a nearby parish, was available to perform the ceremony. Father Pat was amazing — he has such a kind, gentle nature that made everyone, including the guests, feel at ease. Afterward everyone commented on how relaxed and welcoming the service was, even for those who don’t frequent church.
The reception was held on Dave’s mum and her partner’s property in the Northern New South Wales hinterland. There was a lot of work in the lead up to the wedding — the house was still under renovations when we decided to hold the reception there, but in six months every thing was finished: a beautiful deck was built as the dance floor, the gardens were perfectly manicured, and Dave’s step dad even built a beautiful bridge over a small water feature that runs through the property for our photos. My parents, Dave and his dad were at the property nearly every weekend helping wherever they could. David is a chef, so he coordinated all the catering and then hired chef friends and wait staff to bring it all together on the day.
Most of the time we didn’t even feel like Marcus, our photographer, was even there! He just captured the fun, happiness and emotions of the day as they happened. I cannot rave about him enough. He is such a talented photographer with an extraordinary ability to capture candid moments without pressuring us to pose, smile or kiss unnaturally.
Although it's hard to describe a ‘theme’ for the wedding, our styling for the day was inspired by the beautiful country wineries of France with gourmet touches and a hint of classic vintage. Our wedding day was truly a celebration of our family and friends, our future life together and our love for good food, good wine and good music. All along the way, we wanted to make sure that everything we did represented who we are as a couple and what we love. This really made our day personal, natural and relaxed. The wedding was just as we dreamed it to be, which was much more than we hoped for!
