Plain and simple, Smog Shoppe = style. Fact. It’s like a magnet for couples with flair – which is obvious with just one glance of this new Mr. & Mrs. When you combine all of that style with the talents of All You Need is Love Events, and you get to see it all come to life through the lens of Adrienne Gunde – that’s when you hit the SMP sweet spot. And really what’s better than that? It’s a style-savvy, detail-filled love fest, and and you can see every little bit of the goodness right here!
From the Bride…The one thing we knew we wanted for our wedding was for it to reflect who we are and what we hold dear to our hearts: family, friends, and fun. We wanted great food, good drinks, lots of personalized touches, and a day surrounded by all the people we love in a warm and inviting, laid-back atmosphere. It was also important to us that the planning process as well as the day itself be as fun and stress-free as possible. Inspired by our beautiful venue, the Smog Shoppe, we envisioned a retro-vintage style wedding with hints of the geekier sides of our personalities. What ended up making the wedding so special to us was all the love that was put into the planning and many DIY projects by our family, friends, and vendors!
One of our bridesmaid helped set the visual theme for our wedding when she created my bridal shower invitation incorporating our wedding colors (dark teal and purple) and the use of a retro print fabric. We recreated the retro-vintage feel of her invitation into our handmade save the date cards. The use of fabric was then carried into our wedding invitations, which our bridesmaids helped us design and make. We ended up loving the fabric so much that we incorporated it into many of the decorations and design elements of the wedding day. Our bridesmaid used
the fabric to create signs and buntings for the event space. She then made pocket squares and fabric flowers for the wedding party.
To pay homage to the Smog Shoppe’s past as an auto body shop and the groom and groomsmen’s love of cars, we wanted to bring in automobile related elements. Our bridesmaids helped us purchase toolboxes from a local flea market to use as our card box and candy bar. One of our groomsmen surprised us by having a friend pinstripe the boxes, while another hand-lettered the toolboxes. He also painted our drink and buffet menus, keeping a retro style and incorporating more pinstriping. My father-in-law then built a beautiful pegboard – like the kind used in garages for organizing tools – for us to use to display our escort cards.
Our guests also contributed to the wedding decorations! We left a blank space in the design on the front of our postcard RSVP’s and asked our guests to share their creativity with us. It was so much fun receiving the postcards and seeing all the creative designs and messages from our friends and family! Our bridesmaid took the RSVP cards and made them into bunting, which were hung on a focal wall in the reception area along with some of the 1,001 cranes my family helped me fold. Unbeknownst to us, my mother also secretly worked on a second set of 1,001 cranes on her own and had an artist create a beautiful picture out of the cranes for our wedding!
We also handmade our wedding favors, ceremony programs, reception programs, and decorated jars to use as decoration throughout our venue. The day of our wedding, wherever we looked, we saw and felt all the love from all the people in our lives, and to this day we feel so fortunate to have been given such a beautiful day by our amazing family and friends.
