1920's Inspired Wedding by KGOODPHOTO

This 1920's wedding is so homemade, it's homespun. Nearly everything was made by the bride, her mother or friends, including the blackberry preserve favors, a nod to the couple's engagement that took place following an afternoon of berry picking near where the bride grew up. The straps of her lace Alyne Bridal dress are so seriously striking, we don't mind when she turns her back on us. With friends like hers, we doubt she does much of that to anyone in the figurative sense. Kelsey Goodwin of KGOODPHOTO shot it all at this private residence, so you'll see what we mean as soon as you check out all the homey vintage images in the full gallery!

From the Bride...We met at school in a two year program for Computer Science. I was the only girl in a class of 25 guys. We picked each other out right away but played it cool for a few months. We got to know each other while working on some projects together and the rest is history!  Tim proposed in a sun-drenched meadow on a late August afternoon in 2010. The day was so carefree and perfect in every way. We ate sandwiches sitting on an old dock by the lake. We strolled through the forest and we picked blackberries on the edge of a secluded meadow. That’s when he asked! The location was really magical because it was near the home where I grew up and I hadn’t been back to the area for years. We carried the blackberry theme into our wedding on our stationary and by making blackberry jam for our guests as favours. It is impossible to pick a favorite moment – they were all amazing. Exchanging vows under a structure built by my dad, spending time with our guests who were looking sharp in their vintage-inspired clothes, the super fun photo shoots, the touching and hilarious speeches, dancing barefoot on the patio late into the night… and mostly, seeing it all come together. When Tim and I first met, he was in a band and they used to cover the song Lazybones by Leon Redbone. It has always been a favorite of ours. After weeding out so many typical first dance songs, it felt refreshing to settle on something a little bit unexpected and a whole lot “us”. We found a 1930’s Remington typewriter and set it up for guests to write us notes of advice – we got some good ones!
