A VW bus might be an on-trend mode of transportation for some soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs., but for this adorable duo that stylish ride was the very vehicle that brought them together. The groom just happened to be in that very bus when he rode through a McDonald's drive-through where he first eyed his future bride. Let's fast forward a few years to their retro chic wedding at Waterview Bicentennial Park, where Milk & Honey Photography captured all the mod twists on this traditional fête so that we could get our fill of all the retro goodness in the full gallery!

From the Bride-We met when I was 16 and working at McDonalds. Adam reversed his kombi through drive through with the assistance of two friends to get my attention. Our wedding reception was more of a party than a traditional reception – our focus was on ensuring that everyone (including Adam and I!) had a great time. The wedding was on 22 October 2011. The Church was St Benedict’s at Smithfield and the reception at the WatervieW Bicentennial Park. The Church was Adam’s family church and was also attached to the primary school that he went to. The priest that married us also married Adam’s parents at the same Chruch. Our first dance was to Jack Johnson’s “Better Together”. We both love Jack Johnson and this song seemed to capture us. We did dance lessons which proved to be pointless as I couldn’t walk backwards because of the train of my dress! The groom’s sister (and bridesmaid) is a graphic designer, so she made all of the invitations, table numbers, the motif that was piped onto the cake, the namecards, etc. We had a photobooth and a lolly bar to treat our guests. There seemed to be a line for the photobooth the whole night, and by the time we got to have a look at the lolly bar, there was nothing left! We also chose to have the wedding ceremony in the same church that Adam’s parents were married, and the same priest married us. The date (22 October) was my parents wedding anniversary, so it felt like there was a nice link to both of our families that was incorporated into the day. The vows didn’t initially go to plan, with Adam giving me the wrong hand to put the ring onto. Once we got the correct hand, the ring was so tight that I was scared of hurting Adam, so he ended up putting it on himself.
