My vision was for a formal evening wedding with effortless elegance and sophistication. We found the setting at Veritas Vineyard surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains to be very spiritual and meaningful given our love for the outdoors. We met in the Outdoor Adventure Social Club.
To create an elegant, celebratory and chic affair, I envisioned many candles for warmth, cream and blush flowers for a muted color palette with gold for shimmer. The bridesmaids were in long satin dresses with short trains and the men in tuxedoes with tails.
I also wanted to include a subtle classy French Parisian motif to reflect my long history of French studies and the time I lived there. This manifested in the scrollwork on the plates, the fleur de lis Murano glass wine stopper favors, and Parisian street café sign at the cocktail hour. As a late night surprise for our guests, I thought of a Venetian Carnivale with all of our favorite fair foods: Local kettle corn and fresh cotton candy for me, salty popcorn and pretzels for Patrick and fresh funnel cakes for the both of us. We had torches, deep red linens, and festive carnival masks to create a glamorous, magical atmosphere while indulging on sweet and salty snacks.
