Weddings at art galleries are pretty high on the Chic List, and when the bride has her masters in Art History, they are an absolute no-brainer. The modern venue is often filled with inspiring decor, meaning the couple can focus on the most important part of the wedding – the love, commitment, and joining of two people into one family. LOVE that. It also means the couple can focus on the gorgeous flowers from Designs in Bloom to create a personal ambiance we can all love. Andrew Paquet Photography has loaded the gallery with his own kind of art – and you can be sure to find me in there all afternoon!

When my husband and I got engaged we had not idea where to begin; the only thing we knew right away was that we wanted to get married at Museum London. We started dating the week that I began my master’s degree in Art History, and we were introduced through a friend who is an artist. It was the perfect venue for us!
The coordinator at Museum London warned us that we would have no control over the art that would be on display at the time of our wedding, so it was important to pick a timeless, neutral color palette. We also knew that we wanted our wedding to be modern, elegant, and relaxed, which led us to decide on a black and white theme with touches of green. Thankfully, the bright blue installation made of car bumpers by artist Andrew Johnson was the perfect backdrop for our big day.
Since the Museum has rules about decorations, we decided to dedicate a significant portion of the budget to floral design. Our arrangements featured hydrangeas and roses in shades of green and white. These flowers were also incorporated into the bouquets, along with chrysanthemums and succulents. White orchids submerged in water flanked the aisle, and a single Kermit chrysanthemum was placed on each guest’s napkin.
My husband and I ended up creating all of the stationary; we chose the fonts and edited together, and I stamped all of the programs, menus and table numbers with supplies bought at a local craft store. Initially I was nervous about taking on such a big task, but it turned out to be a fun way to spend time together. I was really proud of our finished product.
Although we were hesitant to hire acquaintances as vendors, we had a good friend who is a professional DJ our wedding. It was one of the best decisions we made. He created the exact vibe we were looking for. After dinner ‘The Time Warp” from The Rocky Horror Picture Show was played, which made all of my mother’s five sisters run to the dance floor. During the reception my uncle made a point of saying that it was the most relaxed and fun wedding he had ever been to. That was the best compliment of the evening! Planning a wedding was work—but worth every minute!
