Storybook Vow Renewal Save The Dates from Allison Barnhill Designs

Saving the Date is often your first official wedding task, and therefore, pretty darn exciting. You get to talk paper with your favorite designer, dream about your big day style, and plan the very first part of your wedding people will get to see. When Allison Barnhill Designs was pulling the knot a little tighter with her husband of ten years, she planned a Storybook Vow Renewal, and the first foray into the big day was superb. As expected. Using photos from Elizabeth Ryan Photography, she created a personal Save The Date everyone can love. Click here to see more!

As a stationery designer, it is hard to find time to create something for yourself.  Your clients, friends and family’s invitations always seem to come first.  But, with my 10 wedding renewal six months away, I had to put everyone else off to the side and design my save the dates.

My husband and I have quite a story together and with our shared love (perhaps a bit of an obsession on my part) of books and reading, it was only right that we have a storybook renewal.  A theme was born…and to set the tone, I designed accordion books as the main part of the paper presentation.

The book’s design uses photos that my husband and I, along with our twins had taken back in the fall by Elizabeth Ryan Photography.  It was a “love the dress” session with a twist, because I got to wear my wedding dress from 10 years ago! Sharing a little bit of my first wedding day with my children was amazing.  And, we had so many great photos for the day, I thought they were perfect for the save the date.

The front has a wide photo of my husband and I holding a banner that I created with our renewal wedding date.  And, the story continues…on the back of the save the date with a few more details and a cute literary inspired quote.  The books were assembled and tied with pretty pink and white striped bakers twine and adorned with a photo tag…with our hands making a heart.

I placed these books in luxe cream boxes on a bed of shredded book pages and closed the boxes with a band of paper imprinted with “our story”.  Each guest has part of our story on their box…a little taste of what is to come.

These save the dates were truly a labor of love and I’m so happy that I can share a little piece of our story with you.   And, for those brides getting married soon…this is where you story begins….and continues forever.
