Guest Post: Beautiful Bouquets from Jules Bianchi Photography

More gorgeous details from Jules Bianchi today, LBBers! This month the focus is on the flowers, and being fans of stopping to smell those stems, we are excited to hear from Jules and her perfect tips for capturing the blooming details.

Hi pretty bride! Much like the trend of wearing colorful shoes, I love seeing bright color in the bridal bouquets and grooms’ boutonnières. The flowers can help accent the time of year, style of the wedding or color theme. Extras such as feathers, whimsical fiddleheads or button flowers help make the flowers into tiny pieces of art. The choices are truly endless!

The bridal bouquet also offers a place where the bride can attach a small personal trinket to keep close. I have seen lockets with photographs of a loved one now passed or a beloved pet who cannot attend the ceremony. Small pieces of jewelry with significance also find their way onto the bridal bouquet and can add a personal touch.

Photographing the flowers is of utmost importance to me because I know these gorgeous wedding details will not last.  Often they are wilting even by the end of the night!  I like to have a little mini portrait session with the flowers and try to find a spot with color or texture that will really showcase them.  I try to do this as early on in the day as possible so that they are still fresh and perfect.  I especially try to photograph the groom’s boutonnière as soon as possible because his get particularly destroyed after all of the hugs he is sure to receive that day!  (Plus I love taking a moment to stop and smell the flowers.)

Jules Bianchi & Joy Bianchi Brown are synergistic sisters who run a successful boutique photography studio in Oakland, California, and travel worldwide to photograph some of the world’s most gorgeous weddings.  Jules is an international award-winning photographer who started her wedding photography business eleven years ago and was joined by Joy in 2006.  Jules work has been featured in magazines such as People, The Knot, & Destination I Do.  Jules is active in the photography community as a mentor and speaker, but her favorite thing to do is to capture life as she sees it. You can usually find Jules snuggling with her dog, Olive, or photographing Joy’s two little girls. Working together, they have a lot of fun and go through a lot of chocolate.
