Whately Wedding at Quonquont Farm by Andrea Burns Photography

I love that this couple got married in an apple orchard, just as the trees were reaching full bloom. There’s really nothing more New Englandy than that! Guests were even invited to roam the grounds and pick their own apples. The bride’s lace gown is beyond beautiful and fits her venue to a T. Andrea Burns Photography captured all the moments beautifully and you can see even more right here!

From the Bride… My husband Arik and I were married September 17, 2011 at Quonquont Farm in Whately Massachusetts. Our names are palindromes: Arik and Kira. We started dating in 2003, and I was so happy when we finally tied the knot near my hometown in Western Massachusetts. Arik’s family is from California, and we had many guests coming in from all over the country, so I wanted people to have a classic New England experience. Quonquont Farm was the perfect venue: a pick-your-own apple orchard with scenic views and a pretty barn for the party.

The ceremony was set in the orchard, surrounded by the apple trees, which were in full bloom. We had a friend perform the ceremony in front of about 120 guests. A folk duo played music for the ceremony to give the wedding an upbeat, country feel. My dress was completely lace and with lace covered buttons on the back (my favorite part). It had a vintage look appropriate for the natural setting. I wore handmade pearl cluster earrings from Etsy.

I was finishing my Master of Architecture degree when we got engaged, and it was impossible for me to hand over the design work to someone else or simply pick something. I made the ceremony programs, menus and place cards for the wedding using a palette of steel, cream, black and fig. We got stainless steel cake platters and set the long tables with the cakes as well as flowers in galvanized steel buckets. I put the menus in white IKEA frames and also placed them on the table. For favors, we made little boxes of assorted caramels from the local chocolate shop and left them by the door with a bushel of apples for guests.
