La Jolla Wedding at La Valencia Hotel by Jackie Wonders

There are a lot of reasons we adore La Valencia Hotel. For starters, it makes for a wildly good looking backdrop. And secondly, the weddings that are held at this little gem are beyond. Case in point, this whole-heartedly glamorous affair from that beautiful sleeved gown to every last elegant detail crafted by Couture Events. It’s a sea of soft florals by Splendid Sentiments and everyone dressed to the stylish nines. Lace and seaside soirée-ing; does it get any better? Jackie Wonders captured all the beauty and you can get cozy with each and every image right here.

From the Bride… My favorite part about the wedding planning process was being able to indulge my creative side with inspiration from beautiful blogs and photos. Planning a wedding in La Jolla from England meant that nothing was tactile, instead everything was about the vision. I think it all started to come together after choosing bridesmaid dresses that would make my best friends look so glamorous and elegant was definitely!

During the ceremony, I loved standing in front of our loved ones who travelled from all over the country/world to be there with us and having Aaron’s father perform the ceremony was surreal. It felt elegant yet intimate, it is a beautiful memory next to the floral manzanita trees. My parents got married in La Jolla in the early ’80s, so it had a special meaning to our family. The beautiful La Valencia hotel has an amazing mix of old world European elegance and old Hollywood glamour that infatuated us, not to mention the beautiful flowers and plants everywhere! When Aaron and I walked in, we knew it would be a dream to get married there! Our first dance was a definite highlight at the reception — we did our attempt at the last dance from the movie Dirty Dancing. We kept it a secret, and it was such a laugh performing it! We had spent a lot of time together practicing (even if you couldn’t tell) so sharing our “project” was so much fun! The centrepieces at the reception took my breath away. When I discussed my vision with the florist I had no idea how amazing it would all look on the day. Using driftwood on the tables and loads of balsa wood flowers throughout the wedding floral was the perfect touch for us! I had my dress designed in Edinburgh, Scotland which is our favorite city, and where Aaron proposed!

Enjoy the fun of the planning and inspiration process but there is no harm in making decisions early! AND hire a wedding coordinator! Krystel from Couture Events was amazing, from her advice on finding such talented vendors to ensuring everything comes together and runs perfectly on the day!
