From Glow Event Design... Cary and Cam are both nature lovers who enjoy spending their free time hiking and camping on Northern California's beautiful coast. Big Sur has always been a special place in their hearts, and after seeing Point 16, they knew it was the perfect place for their wedding. Point 16 is set high upon a cliff with a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. The wedding color palette was inspired by the seaside view, and we incorporated blues, greens and sandy beige into the mix. The floral palette was soft and muted, so as not to take away from the spectacular scenery. Cam has a green thumb and loves gardening. His favorite plants are succulents, so they were a big feature in all of the arrangements. Although the couple hired a florist to do the large centerpieces and bouquets, Cam made small planters filled with succulents to place at each guest's seat. Each planter had a small sign with a guest name written on it, and these served as both place cards and favors. Guests loved being able to take home a small piece of Cam's gardening talent. The wedding cake was made by friends of the couple and sat next to a tiered display of homemade "hostess" cupcakes. The catered food was all organic and locally sourced from surrounding farms in the Bay Area. The menu was written on an old chalkboard and had a very "farmers' market" feel. Mini ceviche cups and a gourmet quesadilla bar were among some of the guest favorites. To keep the party going after the sun went down, market lights were hung from the surrounding trees. The sky turned pink as the sun set, and a romantic glow from the bonfire illuminated the area after dark. Guests enjoyed sitting around the fire on log benches and listening to the live music. The father of the bride plays in a band in their hometown of Chicago, and they flew the band members in to play at the event. The entire evening had a very warm and cozy feel, and the couple danced into the night surrounded by their closest family and friends.
