Wells, Maine Wedding from Emily Delamater Photography + Kitchen Chicks
While the weather is the one thing you cannot control on your wedding day, sometimes a lucky couple hits the jackpot and Mother Nature shows up with bells on, lighting the entire day with a glow that matches the bride's smile. Kitchen Chicks and this gorgeous couple planned this Maine wedding to be pretty any day - rain or shine - but when the sun shone so magnificently, the resulting images from Emily Delamater Photography show a day that has filled our hearts - and gallery - with so much love.

We met in 2007 and had our first official date on a boat in Boston Harbor. After that we spent every day together and became best friends. In the winter Todd took me skiing for the first time and it became something that we both loved to do together. We ski as much as we can every winter. It seemed only fitting that when Todd was ready to propose he planned a weekend ski trip to Stowe in Vermont, she said yes in front of the fireplace in their room at the Inn at Manchester.
Kristen's family has cottages along Long Sands in York Beach, Maine and I spent a lot of my time in the summer there, including living there for two summers in high school. The first summer Todd and I were together we spent a lot of time in York at the beach with family and cousins, some of our best memories from first dating are from times together up at the beach and spending time at the cottages with Kristin’s cousins. We both love the outdoors and the beach, so when we were deciding where to get married we thought that the Maine seacoast area would be a great fit. The idea of making it a mini vacation for our friends and family on Labor Day weekend was also appealing.
We only looked at one venue, and from the first moment we turned up the driveway at Laudholm Farm we knew it was the perfect place. We we fell in love with the outdoor setting, the view of the ocean, the trails, and the beautiful house & barn. The colors we chose have always been my favorite – yellow, blue and white – and they fit the setting perfectly with the faint yellow color on the buildings. Todd’s choice of the gray tuxes worked in perfectly, and of course the suspenders were a nice fit.
The ceremony was very simple but it did include an Irish blessing, which is part of my family’s Irish heritage, and a blessing of the rings, which was important to the both of us. Some of our favorite parts of the day were tearing it up on the dance floor to our amazing band Wavelength and the late night mac and cheese bites! For wedding favors we had small brown paper bags filled with “kisses” from the Goldenrod, a candy shop in York Beach that Kristin worked at during the summers she lived up at her family’s cottages.
