From the Bride… We are blessed with lots of family and friends and always knew we wanted to be able to invite everyone we wanted to our wedding. The two most important things to us were that everyone could be there and that it was a ton of fun. We were also paying for most of it ourselves, so we tried our best to keep expenses down so we could afford to have a lot of people. By going out of Austin a little way, we were able to find a large venue that was a reasonable price. We hired Loot Vintage Rentals to take care of most of the crafting and decorating, and they did a FABULOUS job! We were going for a pretty, soft, vintage-chic look and they pulled it off wonderfully. Just about everything else was DIY. I was overwhelmed by how much my friends and family pitched in to help with everything, from my sister doing all the beautiful flowers, to my cousin making the cheesecakes for our groom’s cake, my mom making ribbon wands, Clay’s mom and sister-in-law making the programs and kids books, a friend creating welcome packets for all the hotel guests, and a friend of the groom tying little pink ribbons around the invitations. My mom, sister, friends and family did SO MUCH! I could go on and on and can’t thank them enough.
Clay proposed to me in Italy, so we decided to have a build-your-own pasta bar and a coffee bar to tie in our engagement. The food (from Baxter’s on Main) was delicious, and the coffee bar was a big hit. In addition to hot coffee, we had a frozen coffee drink with whipped cream, chocolate, and my Grandpa’s famous homemade Kahlua. Everyone had a great time dancing and playing in the photo booth. We were treated to a couple songs sung by Clay’s brother and sister-in-law and on-stage dancing by various people. We continued two traditions that were started at my sister’s wedding: the hat dance and the limbo! Both were so much fun … once again. After the reception was over, we continued the fun at a late-night pizza party in the hotel lobby. We had wonderful day-of coordinators, Cheryl and Shea from Yellow Umbrella Events, who we could not have made it without. And as you can tell, our photographer, Nadine, did a phenomenal job capturing the events and details of the day beautifully. This wedding was truly a group effort and the second best thing that came out of this whole process (the best is marrying Clay, of course) was realizing just how amazing our family and friends are. I mean A-MAZING.
