What’s better than a sweet love story’s personal touches woven seamlessly into a sleek modern wedding ceremony? Pretty much nothing, but sequined table linens and rainbow confetti come close. This wedding at the W Austin by Caplan Miller Events has all of the above, all ending in a dessert room. From Caplan Miller Events… Lindsay and Jason met while getting their undergraduate degree at Emory University in Atlanta while he was a senior and she was a freshman. Fast forward several years and a few cities later to their modern and sparkly wedding in Lindsay’s home town of Austin,Texas. This wedding was such a joy to be a part of because it was completely focused on the love of their family and friends.
The ceremony and reception were held at the W hotel in downtown Austin. The couple exchanged vows under a clear, lucite chuppah on the terrace of the W at sundown. When Jason left Emory for medical school, he and Lindsay spoke about their future while sitting under a beautiful oak tree. It was there that they made a commitment to each other to stay together no matter where the future took them. Jason later drew a picture of that very tree and sent it to Lindsay as a reminder of their decision.
We converted the drawing into the family tree that was displayed at the top of the chuppah. So all of these years later, they got married under that tree! The ballroom was designed in a monochromatic color scheme of gray and white with pops of sherbet-colored centerpieces. Lindsay is vibrant and lights up a room, so we enhanced our look with lots of sparkle to reflect our bride’s super-cute personality. Sequin draping and cocktail table linens were paired with gray overlays on our dinner tables. Guests were ushered into the ballroom through rows of servers holding mini champagne bottles with steel straws. Our seated dinner featured a deconstructed Caesar salad paired with a lasagna cupcake, a duo entree or beef tenderloin and halibut and the highlight of the night was the pink, orange, and green-themed dessert room. We played “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” in this room all night!
