From Tori of Sitting in a Tree… Zoe and Karim wanted a personal backyard wedding with classic romantic touches and a little bit of glitz and glamour. Both the bride and groom are doctors with busy and hectic schedules (including stints of living apart), so it was really important that the day be easy, intimate, and laid-back. Their guest list of 100 was perfectly cozy, and both the ceremony and reception took place in the groom’s parents home. You really couldn’t get much more personal! An acoustic guitarist played from a balcony, Persian caterers worked out of the family kitchen, and a family crest was designed by a friend for the couple and added to pillows and signage scattered around the property.
We drew inspiration from the ocean view that the guests would take in — turquoise and aqua played major roles in this wedding day, while still keeping the color palette really fresh and clean with whites, ivories, and mirrored elements. Alice in Wonderland-type garden elements played a role as well — large paper flowers adorning the ceremony area, mismatched china, and vintage trays and candlesticks.
This couple was truly such a joy to work with — the love of their family and friends and for each other played such a huge part of their day and could be felt from start to finish!
