Jaclyn and Tim share a love story ripped from the silver screen. The couple met on September 26, 2008 in LaGuardia Airport in New York. Tim, a Boston native turned New York resident, was flying to Washington D.C. to surprise his sister for her birthday. Jaclyn, a Jersey Girl who moved to the city to attend Barnard College at Columbia University, was headed down to the nation’s capital to visit friends. Tim’s flight was unexpectedly cancelled and he was moved to Jaclyn’s flight. The two struck up a conversation in the terminal lounge and the rest is history. Their New York relationship continued while they both lived in Upper East Side apartments only blocks from each other. Eventually, Tim proposed at rush hour in the middle of Grand Central Terminal, under the clock, on December 18, 2009, amidst the holiday hustle and bustle. For the next 11 months they planned a grand New York affair. The couple was married on November 6, 2010 and the entire evening exuded the timeless elegance of a bygone era.
Their ceremony was held at Christ Church on Park Avenue, presided over by the Reverend Fred Provencher of Cornerstone Christian Church in Wyckoff, NJ (the couple’s home church). The bride’s sisters shared their gifts and talents with the couple and their loved ones by singing the hymn “Be Thou My Vision,” arranged and accompanied by her brother. Finally, the Reverend Father Joseph McShane, President of Fordham University, Tim’s alma mater, shared a moving story of his personal relationship with the bride and groom. The scene at the church was reminiscent of a sepia toned photo – the inspiration for the bride’s rich fall color scheme. Her eight bridesmaids wore taffeta, Jim Hjelm, floor-length gowns in an iridescent copper-toned brown with black lace trim to match the groomsmen’s tuxedos. The flowers had an antique hue and the entire church was illuminated with candlelight.
Immediately following the ceremony, the couple and their wedding party trotted down Park Avenue to a symphony of congratulatory honking. The two were then whisked away in a vintage yellow cab that transported them to their reception. The reception was held at Cipriani on 42nd Street, directly across from Grand Central, where Tim proposed. A dramatic, black tie affair continued late into the evening complete with indulgent food, delicious wine, and a ton of dancing encouraged by the musical stylings of the Eric Marshall Band of Hank Lane Music. The space was warmly lit with amber tones and candles. The mother of the bride designed the table settings with sheer iridescent overlays and special ordered china that matched their fall color scheme. She even collected and hand-painted hundreds of acorns, which served as a bed for the escort cards. To keep with the classic New York theme, each table bore the name of an iconic New York landmark. The centerpieces were towering gold candelabras topped with a display of bold fall colored flowers. And cast upon the wall was a custom made drawing of a “B,” representing the couple’s last name, featuring an ornamental acorn which had been featured on their invitations and ceremony programs. The bride’s vision for the event was Old New York in the Fall. Cipriani, the refurbished Bowery Savings Bank from the 1920s, served as the perfect setting for this classic affair. The rich colors, the candelabras, and the towering five tier ivory butter cream cake completed the look to perfection.
