From the Bride... After meeting on a blind date in the East Village, dating for three years in New York City and getting engaged in Central Park, Tom and I knew that we wanted to bring the style of New York to our Iowa wedding. With countless hours spent perusing Style Me Pretty for inspiration, I decided to create a romantic mood with vintage touches. We wanted our wedding day to be a unique experience for the Iowa guests while surprising all of the east coast guests with a laid-back but elegant affair. The Iowa State Memorial Union was the perfect backdrop to make that vision come to life.
I have a design degree and work in fashion, so it was important to me to have a lot of my own touches throughout our day. I made my veil, the bridesmaids’ bracelets, programs, menus, printed signs, lace votives and the large frame that held the escort cards. Thanks to Gmail, I still had Tom’s first email to me planning our blind date (and my response) which I printed on the back of the menus. My dress hunt took me to 14 different stores in NYC. I thought I had found “the one” several times until I ended my search at Vera Wang. I found my dress at her Fall 2011 trunk show just days after it was on the runway and was the first to purchase the dress. It was everything I could have dreamed for — unique, romantic, full of texture and the perfect color. Thanks to our friends and family, our wedding day was full of love and incredibly perfect. Molly at m three Studio completely surpassed all of our expectations when it came to capturing every moment of our day. She is beyond talented, and we feel very fortunate to have her photos to remember our special day.
