From the Bride… I picked my own dresses and bridesmaid dresses. Quinton decided on his and the groomsmen’s suits. I liked my wedding gown (by Oscar de la Renta) because I like a simple, well-fitted cut that is elegant but with intricate details (it has beading all over it). Instead of a long train, it has a bow at the back. I picked the simplest veil to go with it. I wanted to wear the Manolo shoes that I specially ordered, but I worried the heels would dig into the soil so I switched to a pair of custom-made silver wedges. Basically, we like simple elegance. So in terms of jewelry I kept it simple too — just a pair of pearl earrings and a bracelet, and then I added diamond earrings for the reception. The colors at the ceremony were very simple — white/ivory with green flowers. My bouquet had a bit of pink that matched the bridesmaids’ dresses. Quinton was the only man wearing a three-piece suit because it was so hot — the groomsmen wore vests and ties only. We wanted the ceremony to look proper and not too casual. Oh and I love that walkway we built on the pool. I asked if it was doable and was glad it worked!
We wanted the reception area to be elegant, but we didn’t worry about keeping it as simple as the ceremony area. More pink, more flowers… We do like vintage style so we used silver photo frames for names, candle holders and candles to create the ambiance we wanted. I even brought the textured table overlay all the way from Hong Kong. As the night went on, it slowly transformed into a party. So the music switched from live band to DJ… The activities were more light-hearted (our dance, kom loys) to something more fun and upbeat (fireworks to “Party Rock Anthem” that I picked), which also kick-started the party.
