From the Bride… Matt and I were high school sweethearts and had been dating for just under seven years when he proposed. Although we attended different colleges, we were able to maintain our relationship in spite of the distance. Leading up to our wedding, Matt and I were spread pretty thin between wedding planning, work, graduate school, and my father’s cancer diagnosis just three weeks before the wedding all added extra stress before our big day. Despite my father’s diagnosis and the extremely windy day, we decided to enjoy our day to the fullest and just have fun, and we did exactly that! We were so happy to start our lives together.

We had our ceremony at The Sailfish Club of Palm Beach. We chose this location because I have many great memories there with my family throughout the years. Embracing the decor, we decided on a vintage nautical style. To make our wedding more personal, Matt’s brother-in-law married us, his sisters read during the ceremony, and my brother played the ceremony music with his quartet from school. My mother and stepfather made the invitations, programs, place cards, and table knots. I’ve always love the look of multiple small arrangements, so I found most the centerpiece containers at thrift stores. Our get away car was a ’64 Ford convertible that my uncle had restored. The bridal portraits were taken at the house of a family friend’s on the island. We were so concerned about the pictures because of the strong gusts of wind and rain, but they turned out so much better then we could have imagined.

I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day, surrounded by those we love. We both had a blast as we danced the night away, feeling blessed by all of the love and support we’ve been given over the years.
