Equestrian Center of Walnut Creek Wedding by Shannen Natasha Photography

Vintage purse carrying bridesmaids…genius. Just plop some wild flowers in and voila, instant bouquet magic. This wedding is full of little DIY details like that, crafted by friends and family that all together make for a vibrant , heart-felt affair. The kind that we could blab on and on about and probably will. I just know those bridesmaid purses are going to be the topic of conversation around the SMP water cooler. Shannen Natasha Photography captured so many lovely moments. See them all right here.

From the Bride… Thinking about our wedding still brings tears to my eyes because of how humbled I am by our family and friends’ labor of love throughout the process. When Chad and I saw the Equestrian Center, we knew it would be a perfect location because it was the blank canvas we wanted … even though a wedding had never happened there before. My dad made our altar out of a 100-year-old water tower from the pasture. My mama sewed her heart out and made our invite “envelopes” as well as the table numbers. Chad’s mom baked hundreds of her famous oatmeal cookies for the guests because they are our absolute favorite. One of my favorite details was the bridesmaids clutches we all designed together the day before the wedding. We went to the flower market near San Francisco and bought all the florals; I scoured Etsy for months finding the perfect vintage, leather-tooled purses with the idea to use them as our “bouquets,” and they turned out more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. (We even used the florals to make the boys’ boutonnieres as well.) We had so many personal details, from hand-selecting the songs our live band played, to the casual and homey feel we wanted our guests to experience as if we had just invited everyone over for a BBQ, to our vibrant color palette that we still aren’t sick of. Our wedding was so US. We stayed true to ourselves and what was most important to us, and that means more than anything.
