When great vendors converge on a wedding extravaganza, it’s a fabulous thing. The coming together of talent and L.O.V.E; there’s really nothing like it and this baby is packed to the gills with both. Beautiful moments captured by Sophie Murdoch of The Collective Photographers, details that blend seamlessly with a vineyard fete all whipped up by Touch of Style, Event Coordinating & Design and Camilla Svensson Burns who never fails to create show-stopping florals. That’s a lot of greatness in one little spot and we haven’t even mentioned the film. Rounding out the team of heavy hitters is Joel Serrato with a film that has us by the heartstrings. From the Bride… When my husband Billy and I planned our wedding, with the help of our amazing wedding planner, Laura Robertson of Touch of Style Events (not to mention my very involved maid of honor, Virginia Duke), we wanted our wedding to be a reflection of us. It was exactly that. It was vintage-inspired yet current, colorful but tasteful, and an insane party that still kept it classy. At the end of the day, I wanted to make sure that our guests knew exactly how special our wedding was to us, because it was so long in the making. It was a group effort, with friends helping me wrap 140 small succulent pots in cellophane and ribbon as favors for our guests, and working with friends to design a “vintage” blue door for table numbers. However, it all came together with amazing flourish.
Our vendors simply put together an amazing show. For the design, subtle colors were used in the shades of dusty purple, fern green, and splashes of peach. The centerpieces (designed by the unreal Camilla Flowers) were showstoppers with the use of white crisp flowers, tree trunks, branches as accents, and bird cages filled with moss. The food was super yummy. Two Cooks Catering made sure to cater to the tastes of our traditional Asian families but also keep things current and modern, serving our guests delish pulled pork and coconut-infused chicken. Our cake by The Cakery was not only insanely delicious (the buttercream frosting is to die for) but covered in even more beautiful Camilla Burns-selected succulents and flowers. And lastly, the night was MC’ed and DJ’ed by Perry of the ever-so-professional Kramer Entertainment.
With the support of all the amazing people in our lives, we were able to have a night that was very Daza-Luu (my new last name). In fact, in the grand tradition of not letting things be too cookie-cutter perfect, my maid of honor’s toast (more like roast!) was one to remember. Billy and I have always told our friends that we met on the first day of college, but Virginia revealed our little secret. We met while both “accidentally” in an AOL Los Angeles chat room one fine day in August 2001, weeks before school was set to start for the incoming freshmen at UCLA. We decided to meet on move-in day, and I still remember peeking around the corner of Billy’s dorm room (accompanied by my roommate at the time — just in case — you never know with the Internet!!) and unknowingly meeting my future husband. Ten years later, magic happened in front of the people we loved. It was our perfection. Our pictures by the amazing Sophie Murdoch and our wedding preview video bring us back every time, and we are happily living out our version of ever after.
