Vancouver Wedding at Hycroft Manor by Jasmine Star Photography

Oh how I love a good love story – and one that starts at Starbucks and ends in a seriously adorable soiree seems to be a good way to get the day started, don’t you agree? This (gorgeous) couple personalized every moment of their pretty party – from the invitations by Kelsey Breanne Creative to the Starbucks dessert bar and all the details inbetween (loving the ribbon decor at the ceremony!), and we get to enjoy it all thanks to Jasmine Star Photography and the full gallery of gorgeous!

From the Bride… We had seen each other around town and at church when Shane had a mutual friend put in a good word for him. As soon as I received that message in my inbox, I was smitten. We began emailing and texting and soon after met up for our first date at Starbucks. It turned into over four hours of conversation and we never looked back. Shane wanted to do something really special for a proposal — something that, as a wedding photographer, I would really love and appreciate. He recreated our first date at Starbucks, but in a clearing in the woods. He thought of everything — the comfy chairs that we sat at, the same two drinks we ordered, Starbucks coffee mugs from places we had traveled together and absolutely anything that he could personalize, he did. I had no idea when he was going to propose, so he completely surprised me and blew me away by all his thoughtful creativity.

We were so lucky to have the sun shine that afternoon and so the ceremony took place outside. I walked down the aisle to John Legend’s “Stay With You,” sung by a friend on the guitar. I’ll never forget that walk with my dad, listening to the words and taking everything in. The ceremony was performed by the father of one of the groomsmen, who wove a Starbucks theme into his sermon titled, “Brewing a Perfect Marriage.” During the signing of the registry, our friend again performed a favorite song of ours: “Better Together” by Jack Johnson, and as we were pronounced Mr. & Mrs. and walked up the aisle together, Ray LaMontagne’s “You Are the Best Thing” played.

Kelsey Breanne Creative designed our save-the-dates, the invitation set, and other pieces for our ceremony and reception. I loved them! She used a mix of her lovely hand-rendered font and type, incorporating our vintage elegance theme and colours. The invitation set included a map of the wedding venue, along with the nearest Starbucks (of course) and directional arrows pointing out places we had traveled to together. We were fortunate enough to work with Starbucks for our wedding reception! They set up a coffee bar complete with freshly brewed coffee, tea, and their mini desserts. We wanted to include the setup that Shane created for our proposal, and Starbucks played a huge part in making that happen. They provided us with three baristas for the evening as well as our wedding guest favors. Our “cake” consisted of Starbucks cake pops! We designed and built a cake pop stand so that the complete look would resemble a three tier wedding cake. The rest of our reception consisted of a cocktail dinner with various seating arrangements — vintage sofas and chairs — as we didn’t want a formal seating plan. We also had a photo booth that many of our guests enjoyed and a dance!
