It's certainly no secret that Italian weddings have a way with the romance, so it's no wonder that this darling Australian duo chose the Hotel Vannucci for their intimate destination soiree. Filled to the brim with picturesque views, oh-so-charming details and a whole lot of L.O.V.E (but, of course!), their entire day is just one serious dose of pretty. The story of Brisbane, Australia-based bride and groom Victoria and Frank begins with their wedding date. The former high school sweethearts, who first met in the fall of 2001, originally set their sights on 7/7/07 until they realized they had missed their chance with Australia's 30 day waiting period. Plans starting to come together once again last spring, when Frank confirmed he would be deployed to the Middle East for nine months. Frank promptly got down on one knee in May and then the new date of 11/11/11 was set. With Frank given just two weeks holiday during his deployment, the couple decided on an Italian destination wedding at the Citta della Pieve in Umbria, with just a handful of friends and family from throughout the world.
Personal touches abounded, as Victoria designed the wedding stationery and hand-selected the music playlist for the day, as well as handmade the ribbon sticks for guests to use in lieu of traditional confetti. The couple also paid homage to Italian fashion designers with Frank's shoes and tuxedo shirt from Prada, his dinner suit from Gucci and her heels from Sergio Rossi. Favorite wedding day details included the menu, which featured white veal with truffle, lobster and scampi and an ahi tuna salad. Victoria had also asked her father to prepare a fountain pen for the couple in which they signed their wedding paper, and the red Mont Blanc he had on hand for the bride and groom was exactly the special touch she had hoped for. Favorite wedding memories from the day included the happy tears-producing wedding speeches. As for any advice for destination brides-to-be, Victoria says, "Get a wedding planner and plan as early as possible. Communicate as much as you can to achieve the wedding you have imagined."
