We like them bright and we like them happy. And when they’re also incredibly easy on the eyes, we really like that too. This shindig held at The Mountain Mermaid is all of the above, emphasis on the easy on the eyes. It’s petals by Holly Flora who does bright, happy, gorgeous like no other along with a layer of personalized details that scream Italian romance and photography by Llanes Weddings that we could easily stare at all afternoon. You can too, right here.

From the Bride… The inspiration for our wedding started with our wedding venue, The Mountain Mermaid. It’s a home built in the 1920s with a rich and colorful past. The Mermaid’s owner, Bill Buerge, restored it to its original splendor and along the way collected MANY eclectic antiques that he allows his guests to use for their events. In addition, my husband and I knew we wanted our wedding to be less generic than the banquet room-type ceremonies we had attended in the past. We hoped to achieve a celebration that felt intimate, soulful and also reflected our personal taste and quirkiness. We set out to do this through incorporating aspects of our life and history together into the reception.
It was during a romantic trip to Italy that we both knew for certain we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together as man and wife, so we included parts of this wonderful experience. Some examples of this were the limoncello shots waiting at the guests’ place settings, our vintage Italian map seating chart, vintage postcards from the cities we visited as our table names and naming our signature drink “La Dolce Vita.” In place of a sign-in book, we used the backs of vintage Italian postcards to ask guests to impart their marriage advice, and finally, we used rosemary throughout as decoration to infuse the venue with it’s delicious scent and because in the Middle Ages it was used in weddings to represent love and loyalty.
