Toronto Hunt Wedding by welovepictures

When it came to searching for the right venue, this stunning Toronto couple had two criteria - a dreamy forest setting and a whole lot of picture perfect water views.  Luckily, The Toronto Hunt was everything they were looking for... and the PERFECT compliment to their dream day. The soft color palette, dazzling paper goods by Meowza and Studio Mox (the bride!) and vintage vibe were a fabulous match for the gorgeous natural surroundings... and those stunning images captured by welovepictures? Amazing.  See it all here.

From the Bride... Inspired by the soft glow of a warm summer day, we wanted every color, texture and detail to be just as airy, soft and romantic. Naturally, our hearts gravitated to the idea of a beach wedding, but if there was a dream of anything more perfect, it would be a beach with the backdrop of a forest overlooking the water. As incredible as that would’ve been closer to our home away from home in California, we simply couldn’t imagine our day without our family and friends back home in Ontario, Canada. So planning from afar, we looked into every beach option there that we could find online and set up a 15 venue tour around southwestern Ontario the summer prior, in hopes of experiencing summer goosebumps for "the one". Although finding that picture-perfect beach venue in Ontario proved beyond challenge, when we turned onto the Toronto Hunt drive on the last day of our tour, we knew we had found our hidden oasis. Under a canopy of large trees, time felt suspended as we stood in awe, looking out over the beautiful blue water once we parked. Although not quite beachfront, the bluffs’ drop-off to the vast waterfront, a world of tall old trees, and a stunning terrace simply pulled on our heartstrings.

With water and trees so dear to our hearts, incorporating a touch of nature into all of our details became a must. We began setting the tone through colour, using a natural, softly sun-kissed palette of whites, creamy lattes, soft pinks and charcoal grays. Guests could sign their names and wedding wishes by “leaf”ing a thumbprint on our Wishing Tree, store cards in a hand-stitched burlap-bannered birdcage, and even let our love continue to grow with a pinecone-adorned seedling favour. For touches of chic, a chandelier was strung from a tree branch for the outdoor photo booth, complete with debonair mustache props, twinkling lights, and custom-cut wooden signs matching the font on our invitations. Lace-wrapped candles adorned the fireplace mantle, and a distressed ornate mirror penned in white ink presented our dinner menu. In an elegant tribute to our gaming roots, our wedding cake took Mario-inspired form as a castle, with hand-made ribbon flags atop a tower of mushroom cupcakes; our colour-coordinated custom cocktails were named after our gaming avatars, "mox" and "endo".

As a designer, it meant the world to tie so many elements of the day together and craft our letter-pressed invitation package, finished as a lovely twine-wrapped bundle. When nested together however, the multiple card invite created a tree-lined, mushroom-dotted, rolling landscape for our flag-topped waterfront castle, and even the resident Toronto Hunt fox. While he may not have made an appearance during our ceremony, one did as an element on our stunning ring pillow, hand-stitched by one of my incredibly talented bridesmaids. Finally, to create an airy atmosphere both classic and personal, our music selection during cocktails and dining was composed of stringed transpositions of modern day favourites, including Muse, Coldplay and Lady Gaga. The dance party that followed that evening, however, was nothing short of just that! Despite so many fine details in motion, our wedding day was one of the most calm and yet exhilarating days of my life! I can’t describe how thankful I am that I was able to relish in and savour so many incredible moments of our day.
