From Save the Date Events ... Blame this photoshoot on a love affair with the early twentieth-century and rustic vintage style. The project began with a scavenger hunt of sorts to find genuine vintage items, as well as a few newer items that were convincing enough to coexist with the originals.
Among those genuine artifacts was an old phonograph, an iconic piece of technology that, to us, captured the spirit of the 1920s. We were lucky enough to borrow one that was fully operative—so much so that it provided us with the lovely soundtrack of big band songs during the shoot.
Other pieces included a farm table, lace, vintage tins, old books, and soda shop chairs. The place card holders were created from scratch using antique thread spools and twisted metal. The escort cards were suspended from a line of twine inside of an old travel chest. And a shabby white dresser welcomed a spread of delicious desserts on vintage china pedestals, including a cake that was inspired by the unique scallop pattern on the dinner plates from Anthropologie.
All of these elements, when contrasted with a wooded hillside at Boettcher Mansion, created a look that felt Colorado rustic, eclectic, and vintage.
