From the Bride... When Ryan asked me to marry him, I was so excited to start a new stage of my life with him after many years of dating. I also could not wait to plan the wedding of my dreams. I knew I wanted a New England summer wedding with water views and an outdoor setting. The location that had everything on my list was the Glen Manor House in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. This elegant French chateau estate tucked away on a quiet property on the water made me fall in love with it. I walked through the property and knew as I was standing in the garden that this was where we would get married. The location felt perfect for us: private, romantic and beautiful. The setting for the ceremony was outside in the garden overlooking the Sakonett River. Mother Nature was not very kind the day of the wedding until shortly before we were ready to start the ceremony. As I watched the clouds break and the sun slowly peek through, I was overcome with emotion. This meant that my dream of us being married in the gardens looking out over the water was truly going to happen. I like to think our loved ones who could not be there with us that day brought us a little sunshine to let us know they were there with us. Our ceremony went off without a hitch. We wanted an intimate and personal ceremony, which was led by my father-in-law. It was an emotional time for the both of us as all of our closest family and friends watched us exchange our vows. My father-in-law stood in front of us with such pride and love, and delivered a heartfelt ceremony for the two of us.
As an interior designer, I knew exactly what I wanted from the flowers to the napkins on the table. I had always envisioned a soft palette of blush pinks, ivory and soft green for my wedding day, and it went perfectly with the interior of the venue. From the signature cocktail, to the photographs of our grandparents on their wedding days, we wanted our wedding to reflect us. If there was one motto of the day, it was to have fun and cherish every possible moment. Being a couple that likes to have fun, we wanted our family and friends to have the time of their lives. This was a party to celebrate our life together and there was no better way than to eat, drink and dance all night long.
When it came time to choose a photographer, I instantly fell in love with Lisa Frechette's work. The way Lisa and her staff captured our wedding day speaks for itself in the photographs. Lisa could not have done a more amazing job photographing the happiest day of our lives. The quality and effortless beauty of her photographs illustrated the beauty and romance of the day. I wanted to feel comfortable and natural when it came to our pictures, and that is exactly what Lisa allowed us to do. It means a lot to have photographs to reflect on, especially when the day feels like such a whirlwind. Lisa was able to tell the story of our wedding day just through her pictures, and I appreciate being able to look back at them and relive our wedding day.
