From Judy of Judy Pak Photography… If there is any day that a girl should be free to live out her every decadent whim, it is on her wedding day. We New York City vendors endeavored to capture the playful, opulent, ultra-feminine spirit of Sofia Coppola’s film “Marie Antoinette” with an inspired wedding shoot for the modern bride. Sofia Coppola’s film so skillfully took a character who we all thought we knew as a detached aristocrat and portrayed her in a more relatable (though equally lavish) light. Likewise, for this inspiration shoot, we steered away from a stuffy aristocratic look and instead used glitter and pops of bold feminine colors together with accents of antique glamour to pull together a extravagant, Versailles-worthy affair for brides of today. The Metropolitan Building in Long Island City, New York, was the perfect setting for a wedding of this kind, filled with the kind of details you imagine Marie would have wanted in her own parlor: gilded molding, dramatic chandeliers, and antique books and furniture. In glittery, neutral-colored couture gowns by Samuelle Couture and Galit Levi with makeup and hair by JAC Beauty, we kept this Marie Antoinette bride and her friends’ looks contemporary with flowing hair, whimsical up-dos and brightly-colored nails. Big City Little Sweets made us all drool for their decadent, gold-dusted cupcakes, candy-colored macaroons and beautifully overflowing dessert table. Barbara’s Flowers made sure that the table spread and bouquets were designed to perfection: lavish and overflowing with a wealth of roses and greenery. Event designer Michelle Edgemont made sure that the shoot had no shortage of flirty feminine details with a lovely boudoir dresser covered in feathers, pops of color and glitter on the table, and unexpected modern details like an adorable triangle banner, glittery sneakers and confetti. Judy Pak Photography, with the help of second shooter Caroline Frost, captured every moment with playful, whimsical images that perfectly convey the sweet innocence and youthful extravagance of our “Modern Marie.”
