We have a full-blown, high altitude induced wedding crush on this Colorado soiree, planned by LBBer Calluna Events. It’s breaks every preconceived notion you’ve got about a mountain wedding at a summer camp. The rustic charm is ridiculously glamourous, the day is classic black tie layered with mason jars and wildflowers from Plum Sage Flowers. And the lovely couple are a stunning display of polkadot bowties and lace dresses. It’s time to rethink the mountain wedding, á la Jenna Walker Photographers and the full image gallery!
Sarah and Stuart ‘officially’ met in 2005 in Estes Park, Colorado, while working at the summer camp they both spent years attending as children. It wasn’t until 2007 when they re-connected in the Rocky Mountains that they both quickly realized this relationship was one that was bound to grow into something very special. Grow it did over the next four years, and in July, 2010, Stuart asked Sarah to be his bride on a hike in… Estes Park, Colorado (notice a trend?).
Stuart is from the small town of Seattle, Washington, and Sarah hails from the booming metropolis of Fremont, Nebraska. They both spent their childhood and college years visiting various points on the globe, and when it came to choosing a location for their wedding, they wanted to choose a spot that meant something to both them. Estes Park was the shoe-in choice to fit the bill, and so the planning began.
We chose a classic color scheme (navy and grey) with a pop of whimsy (bright wildflower bouquets) that complimented the natural rustic surroundings. Sarah collected milk glass vases from local thrift stores, Stuart engineered two delicious homebrews for the guests (Nupti-Ale and Labor Day IPA), and lavender was tossed as the newly minted husband and wife joined the cocktail hour. The wedding cake by Living the Sweet Life was a coconut cake with vanilla crème cheese frosting, topped with crushed pistachios…and was one of many cakes on the dessert bar (how can you pick just one?!). The night capped with both families representing very well on the dance floor and creating long lasting ‘memories’ in the photo booth.
We have SO many bright memories of our wedding day. Spending the weekend amongst our friends and family joining together in a celebration of our love was an unforgettable feeling!
