From Jillian of Mimi Nicole Events… Living in a big city, you often have people who are at a loss as to where to hold bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, or even weddings! Some people really want to incorporate that chic, city vibe, but just don’t know how to navigate it. With this shoot, I wanted to show people that a modern, city soiree can be just as pretty as any outdoor event and, when you’re living in the UK, much more feasible. I wanted to create a bridal shower that was equal parts pretty and girly, but also had a modern vibe. The initial inspiration board featured different variations of pinks and purples with little touches of gold here and there to glam it up a bit. And you can’t forget those fabulous ghost chairs — the modern girl’s mason jar! The whole shoot came together brilliantly, and I think it really shows just how fabulous an indoor, modern event can be!
The great thing about living in a city is that you have a myriad of different loft type venues that really lend themselves to the modern, city look. Our shoot took place at an exclusive venue in Glasgow called the 29 Club, and it’s amazing! The management was kind enough to let us use Apartment 29, which is a beautiful white room/bar off one wing of the building. They’re as nice as can be there, especially if you ask for David. If you’re looking for somewhere to host any kind of event, this venue is wonderful. The easiest part of the whole shoot was deciding on the photographers. Craig and Eva are two of the nicest people you will ever hope to meet and are absolute geniuses behind the camera. Their style is totally photojournalistic, which can be hard to find in Scotland, as it’s not quite as popular over here as it is in the States. They’re an absolute dream team together and so fun to be around.
If you’re wondering who created those delectable looking desserts, that would be Nichola of Three Sisters Bake. How darling are her raspberry juice meringues?! All the paper products you see in the shoot were designed and printed by the lovely Lorna McGinnigal of E.Y.I. Love. Sophie Wilson of I Heart Flowers should be on everyone’s floral list! From the over-the-top centerpiece to the little bud vases of tulips, she created floral gorgeousness. If you live in the UK and are looking for a different take on flowers than just the standard bouquet of roses — this is the girl for you! The four models that we worked with from The Model Team were absolute dreams! They were there bang on time, and even though they were freezing in this cold January weather, they smiled and laughed like they were out on the beach! They were made even more beautiful by the lovely Jennifer Peffer and Pamela. Jennifer created beautiful makeup looks for each girl that were the perfect mix of natural and flirty. Pamela did an amazing job with the girls’ hair and added in gorgeous bits and pieces to really make them all sparkle! Speaking of gorgeous hair pieces, Miriam of La Belle Epoque contributed all the beautiful headpieces (except for the large, pink flower, which is from my own headband collection) and jewelry. The pretty, fun dresses were provided by Rowan McIntosh, of Rowan Joy, and were the perfect mix of modern and a bit vintage. Rowan handmakes all her dresses and does an absolutely brilliant job of running her darling vintage boutique, Godiva, at the bottom of the Edinburgh Castle. The whole team really did an amazing job, and I loved that I was able to totally trust them with my vision and then let each one do what they’re best at! It was such a fun day, and I look forward to working with all of them again soon!
