From the Bride… My husband and I were married on the shore of Fort Pond Bay in Montauk, New York. He grew up in nearby Southampton, and I fell in love with Long Island on weekend trips we took whenever we could steal some time away. By the time the wedding rolled around, we had moved from New York to California, so we decided to spend the week before the wedding in Montauk instead of taking a honeymoon. It was perfect.
After wonderful weather for a rehearsal dinner of lobster rolls and s’mores around fire pits on Friday, we woke to heavy weather on Saturday. An hour before the ceremony the last rain fell and the sky broke into something incredible. We wanted a wedding with a beautiful backdrop where our promise could take center stage, and Navy Beach Restaurant delivered. Spanish guitar led the way for a ceremony full of close friends on the shore of the bay. Inside, we decorated the party with a few details, from countless paper crabs punched by my mother-in-law to pirate and sailor hats for the guests. Our fathers wore boutonnieres I made from felt and anchor buttons, and my husband made the origami boats used as table numbers. Only the girls had flowers, which we picked up at a local shop and tied just before the ceremony. The food — fried chicken and truffle mac and cheese — stole the show. We followed up with cupcakes and danced the night away. I’ve never had so much fun or felt so much love. We feel so lucky to have these memories (and these photos!).
