From the Bride… When Jeff and I talked about about what we wanted our wedding day to look like, we both agreed it should be laid-back and a time to celebrate with our friends and family. We got married in front of the fireplace at Nita Lake Lodge in Whistler, BC, on a perfect fall day. It was intimate, cozy and exactly what we wanted. This was also thanks to Marcie Gaukrodger of Bliss Event + Design, who was our wedding day coordinator and also created all of our flowers, including the most amazing bouquets I’ve ever seen. I saw a friend’s wedding photos a few years earlier by Gucio Photography, and knew I wanted them to photograph my own wedding one day. They captured the joyful feeling of the day so beautifully. Their photos really showed exactly how we felt and how much love was present between us.
My favorite part of the planning process was making all the DIY stuff. I had quite a few crafting days with my bridesmaids where we made all the little details like garlands, place settings and the photo booth backdrop. My Dad made the seating chart and did all of the calligraphy, my mom made our wedding cake and a family friend made the table linens. Knowing our families and friends (especially my bridesmaids!) were so involved in the process made it very special.
