From Cheryl of Cheryl J. Wedding and EventsJane and Reuben met at Columbia University during their MBA’s. Honoring this time together and how they first met was very important to the couple. They decided to get married at the beautiful St. Paul’s Chapel at Columbia University. The dramatic elegance of the chapel, along with its presence on the campus where they had spent so much time together, made it the perfect choice. Similarly, the Columbia University Faculty House, a close walking distance from the main campus, provided a close-by, elegant location for the wedding reception.

Jane was a busy professional woman who needed to organize her wedding in the most efficient way possible. Both starting out their careers in investment banking simultaneously meant late nights, weekend conference calls and little time for endless wedding vendor meetings. They felt it crucial to employ the services of a wedding planner, and Cheryl J. Weddings was their first choice. Jane had a romantic, youthful yet understated taste. She gravitated to the soft, tissue-like blooms of peonies and Japanese garden roses and favored a “plucked from the garden” feel for her flowers. Her love of pastel pinks and lush garden accents brought a youthful and vibrant feel to the décor. The bridesmaids were dressed in short, bright dresses, suited to such a young and zestful bridal party, and the men stuck to traditional black to add a touch of formality.

Jane and Reuben wanted to honor their rich Korean culture and made the Korean Tea Ceremony a central part of their reception. Due to their guests being a mix of Korean and Western ethnicities, the tea ceremony was clearly explained and narrated for everyone to understand and enjoy. The traditional ‘nut throwing’ ritual foretold that they would have many children together, which entertained everyone immensely … they better get started!
